The race committee for Beauty and the Beach 5 Mile Run is working full speed ahead and all we can think about these days are the strong, running beauties out there and Aslan Youth Ministries, our charity that, “through God’s love” helps change the lives of at-risk-youth. I am so proud to be helping them because they deeply effect change not only in our community, but also create lasting change in our world by helping “one child at a time.” Isn’t that amazing?

As mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, grandmothers and great-grandmothers we have the gift, too of creating change in a child’s life. We can set an example, be a role model or let our hair down and run barefoot through the sand with them. Whatever you do, you do inspire others every single day. And don’t you forget it!

Together we will be taking the journey to get to the start line. I will be posting here about the race, running tips and information, sharing stories and lessons I have learned in my life, and lessons I know I will learn from you, and much more. I would love for this to be an interactive place, so please ask questions and leave comments. I will answer you and you never know you might inspire some folks here with your comments. So if you are a lifelong runner, or just lacing up the first time to train for this race, I think you will find value in following our website, blog, Facebook page and Twitter feeds. We will talk about everything a Beauty like you needs to know to get ready for this race.

I also, want to add that I am very excited to be blogging for this race. Not only am I a big fan of Aslan Youth Ministries, but I have run this race a few times. It also holds a very special place in my heart. This was the very first race I trained for! You will hear more about in my experiences as a “Beauty” in my blog posts.  For now, keep lacing up and meeting us here!
